Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Optomechanics)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; office environment with 5% travel required

Salary: $94,000–$140,000 annually

What you will do

• Support production lines, monitor process efficiency, validate processes, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, engineering change orders, bills of materials, routers, and process documentation.
• Define test operation methods and sequences, evaluate sensor testing, and correlate multiple fixtures used for the same process step.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Visual Workplace, SPC, Gage R&R, Cp, and Cpk.
• Collaborate with development engineering on fixture design and support inspection and assembly operations.
• Manage cross-functional projects, establish milestones, resolve root causes, and improve quality, labor efficiency, and throughput.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related science is required.
• 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience is required.
• Experience with optomechanical or electromechanical assembly operations, optics, cameras, or sensing electronics.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, analytical decision-making, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to define and lead Design of Experiments projects and implement Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Ability to work onsite in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

Nice to have

• Four years of experience designing or manufacturing capital equipment.
• Lean or Six Sigma certification.
• Experience with SAP ERP, machine vision systems, Creo, MATLAB, or Minitab.
