Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Palm Bay, Florida; Chantilly, Virginia; or Carlsbad, California. The role requires direct laboratory, prototype integration, hardware-test, and occasional field-test activity.

Salary: $76,500–$141,500 annually in California and Virginia.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration, and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware.
• Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation.
• Evaluate materials and design trades while optimizing performance, size, weight, power, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Plan and execute component- and system-level tests, analyze results, and drive design improvements.
• Present designs and test results in peer reviews, preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, and customer reviews.
• Partner with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, technicians, configuration management, and program test teams to transition designs into production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of related experience, or a graduate degree with 0–2 years of experience; alternatively, 6 years of related experience without a degree.
• Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance is required; clearance active within the last two years may be considered.
• Experience with mechanical design, development, integration, and testing of complex hardware.
• Experience with 3D mechanical CAD, engineering drawings, tolerance analysis, and GD&T.
• Ability to work on-site in office and laboratory environments.
• Experience with precision mechanisms, mechatronic systems, thermal and structural loading, or size, weight, and power optimization.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Creo and knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
• Experience with additive manufacturing, part optimization, and design for manufacture and assembly.
• Experience with actuators, custom gear trains, electro-optical systems, materials testing, or manufacturing processes.
• Favorable polygraph.
