Windows Patching & Automation Engineer

Location: Remote, open to candidates based in Latin America

Salary: USD $2,200–$2,500 per month ($26,400–$30,000 annually)

What you will do

• Write, maintain, and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts for patch deployment, diagnostics, remediation, and reporting.
• Support monthly Windows security patches, antivirus and signature updates, .NET updates, and related compliance components.
• Investigate Windows Update and MSU installation failures using event, CBS, installer logs, telemetry, and error codes.
• Use KQL to analyze deployment results, monitor patch and vulnerability compliance, and identify systems requiring follow-up.
• Build, validate, and publish patching components across deployment rings and environments using safe deployment practices.
• Maintain dashboards and compliance reports while coordinating exceptions, manual interventions, and technical blockers with partner teams.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience writing, modifying, debugging, and automating with PowerShell, including object-based pipelines and filtering with Where-Object.
• Strong multi-system debugging and troubleshooting skills using logs, telemetry, and error codes.
• Working knowledge of Windows Update, WSUS, manual MSU installation, and Windows package verification with Get-HotFix, Get-WindowsPackage, DISM, or Windows Update history.
• Hands-on experience using KQL to query and investigate operational data in Kusto.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with engineering, security, and compliance teams.
• Candidates must be based in Latin America.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting patching or vulnerability compliance across large, distributed Windows server environments.
• Experience with Azure DevOps build or deployment pipelines.
• Familiarity with .NET servicing, antivirus servicing, vulnerability scanning tools, CVEs, deployment rings, Windows hotpatching, operating system baselines, STIGs, or WinPE.
