Senior Systems Engineer

What you will do

• Provide operational support, administration and maintenance for customer systems across on-premise and datacentre environments.
• Monitor service health using alerts, logs, metrics and trend data to identify degradation early.
• Investigate and resolve incidents across Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, virtualisation, storage, backup and related services.
• Manage incidents, service requests, changes and operational tasks in line with service commitments and customer priorities.
• Support root-cause analysis, problem management, patching, vulnerability remediation, upgrades, migrations and platform lifecycle activities.
• Automate repetitive work, maintain technical documentation and collaborate with service management, customers, suppliers and technical specialists.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience supporting systems infrastructure in an enterprise, managed services or outsourced IT environment.
• Strong operational knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and core datacentre services.
• Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux servers, including configuration, troubleshooting, patching, hardening and lifecycle management.
• Experience with enterprise virtualisation, storage, backup and recovery platforms, including availability, capacity, resilience and recovery requirements.
• Experience in an ITIL-aligned managed service environment covering incident, problem, change, service request and knowledge management.
• Ability to create automation and scripts with PowerShell, Bash, Python or vendor tooling, act as a senior escalation point and produce clear operational documentation.

Nice to have

• Relevant certifications in systems engineering, virtualisation, storage, backup, identity, security or automation.
• ITIL Foundation or an equivalent service-management qualification.
