Prototype Assembler (Electronics)

Location: Onsite in Tempe, Arizona, United States. US citizenship is required for this government position.

Salary: $28.37–$44.71 per hour. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area, the range is $35.10–$52.88 per hour.

What you will do

• Assemble electronic devices, printed wiring board modules, chassis, housings, wires, and hardware.
• Perform manual surface-mount and through-hole soldering, including fine-pitch soldering.
• Apply and mix adhesives, epoxies, and other materials for printed circuit boards.
• Read schematics, blueprints, assembly instructions, and parts lists.
• Position, align, fasten, and inspect components and subassemblies using hand tools and equipment.
• Conduct quality checks and maintain a safe, clean work area and equipment.

Requirements

• US citizenship is required for this government position.
• 2+ years of related electronics assembly experience.
• Experience with manual soldering and electronic device assembly, including fine-pitch soldering.
• Experience in an engineering prototype environment and strong mechanical assembly skills.
• Ability to read and follow drawings and work through a microscope for 8+ hours per day.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience; successful completion of a soldering assessment before hire.

Nice to have

• Military and space assembly experience.
• Cable and harness building, wire bonding, and IPC-610, J-STD, or J-STD-620 soldering certifications.
• Experience mixing and applying epoxies, adhesives, and other materials.
• Experience with Oracle, Solumina, Agile, and Microsoft Office.
