Staff Solutions Engineer (Payments)

Location: New York City, with three days per week in the office; implementation coverage across the United States

Salary: $200,000–$300,000 annual base pay, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Own technical pre-sales for complex client engagements involving global payments and financial products.
• Translate business requirements into scalable solution designs, integration blueprints, and actionable delivery plans.
• Partner with sales, implementation, account management, product, and engineering teams throughout discovery, integration, go-live, and early optimization.
• Advise customers on system configuration, APIs, third-party connectors, data flows, and integration architecture.
• Troubleshoot complex implementation challenges and guide customers through configuration decisions without directly writing production code.
• Create documentation, playbooks, and lightweight tools while channeling customer feedback into product and engineering roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in technical pre-sales and complex, multi-stakeholder technology or financial-services implementations.
• 10+ years of client-facing delivery or professional-services experience in SaaS, fintech, consulting, systems integration, or enterprise implementation.
• Demonstrated success delivering cross-functional projects with C-level executives, technical teams, operations, and other stakeholders.
• Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and influencing skills, including the ability to lead steering meetings and communicate clear status updates.
• Must be able to work from New York City with three days in the office.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with API-based payments integrations or products.
• Experience managing strategic or enterprise engagements within broader account teams.
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving and ambiguous environments.
