Sr Engineer, Quality Assurance Engineering (Semiconductor)

Location: San Luis Obispo, California, United States; full-time, on-site

Salary: $95,000–$110,000 per year, with actual pay dependent on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional investigations into manufacturing, process, and product quality issues using 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone Analysis.
• Drive plant quality escalations, CAPA activities, containment, corrective actions, effectiveness reviews, and closure.
• Own quality notifications, nonconformance, MRB, and defect-tracking processes, including risk assessment and material disposition.
• Develop dashboards and reporting for yield, scrap, rework, defect trends, process capability, and manufacturing performance.
• Support process improvement, NPI readiness, process validations, Control Plans, Process FMEAs, inspection strategies, and process change notifications.
• Improve process control systems, metrology, MSA, SPC, audit readiness, and quality ownership while coaching engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality engineering, semiconductor engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4–6 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or a related technical discipline, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience leading root cause investigations and implementing and verifying corrective and preventive actions.
• Experience with FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, CAPA, Lean, Six Sigma, ISO-based quality systems, nonconformance management, and MRB processes.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems; SAP is strongly preferred, along with data analysis or visualization tools such as Power BI.
• Proficient spoken and written English required. Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering, quality management, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
• ASQ certifications such as CQE, CQIA, CSSBB, or CMQ/OE.
• Semiconductor manufacturing, quality, process, equipment, or materials engineering experience.
• Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar regulated quality standards.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading plant-wide continuous improvement initiatives.
