Project Quality Engineer

Location: Onsite in Buffalo, New York, United States

Salary: $110,000–$145,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead quality planning and program execution for Defense Business Unit programs, including quality plans, inspection plans, and first article inspection activities.
• Maintain contractual, regulatory, traceability, configuration-management, contamination-control, and end-item documentation requirements.
• Act as the primary quality interface for customers, government representatives, regulatory agencies, suppliers, and internal engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Resolve quality issues through nonconformance management, material review, failure analysis, root-cause investigation, corrective action, and risk mitigation.
• Drive product, process, and cost improvements using statistical process control, regression analysis, gauge variation analysis, and Design of Experiments.
• Provide technical guidance and training while supporting supplier and customer audits, source inspections, resource planning, and program execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or another STEM discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional engineering or manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with root-cause analysis, corrective action, nonconformance processing, first article inspection, inspection planning, statistical analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Working knowledge of applicable quality and technical standards and proficiency with statistical, spreadsheet, word-processing, and database software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance.
• Access to U.S. export-controlled information is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex electronic, electrohydraulic, electromechanical, machined, assembled, or tested products.
• Lean/Six Sigma experience or certification.
• Knowledge of ESD, FOD, electronic hardware and test-equipment handling requirements, or servo-valve subassemblies.
