Assistant Professor - English (Technical, Professional Writing)

Location: Victoria, Texas, United States; consistent campus presence and regular on-campus office hours required

What you will do

• Teach undergraduate courses in professional writing, composition, and other English subjects aligned with program needs and expertise.
• Provide student-centered instruction and support for undergraduate writers.
• Hold regular office hours and maintain a consistent campus presence.
• Participate in course and program development.
• Maintain an active program of scholarly, creative, and professional activity.
• Perform college service and collaborate with students, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in English, technical writing, or a related field by August 15, 2027.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching.
• Evidence of scholarly, creative, and professional activities.
• Willingness to teach composition and professional writing as needed.
• Ability to work on campus in Victoria, Texas, with a consistent campus presence.
• Availability to begin employment in Fall 2027 in a nine-month, tenure-track appointment with a 4/4 teaching load.

Nice to have

• Specialization in technical and/or professional writing.
• Experience in digital writing, social media writing, or professional editing.
• Experience mentoring undergraduate writers and supporting first-generation students.
