Assistant Professor, Higher Education Administration

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas, United States; onsite, 9-month tenure-track faculty position.

What you will do

• Teach graduate-level courses in Higher Education Administration and Educational Leadership, including organization and administration, academic advising, student support, and student development.
• Establish and lead an active research agenda aligned with a Carnegie R2 institution.
• Publish and disseminate scholarship through peer-reviewed publications, practitioner outlets, and academic conferences.
• Advise and mentor graduate students, including chairing and serving on dissertation committees.
• Support recruitment and retention in the M.S. and Ed.D. graduate programs.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in higher education, higher education leadership or policy, postsecondary education, student affairs administration, or a closely related field; advanced ABD candidates may be considered if the degree is conferred by appointment.
• At least three years of full-time professional administrative experience in a higher education institution.
• Experience teaching graduate-level coursework in higher education administration.
• Evidence of scholarly or creative work related to higher education leadership, organizations, student success, or institutional practice.
• Participation in scholarly-practitioner communities and dissemination of work to academic and applied audiences.
• Employment is subject to a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials and other required information.

Nice to have

• At least five years of full-time higher education administrative experience.
• Experience with programmatic, organizational, or student-success improvement initiatives.
• Leadership or sustained involvement in higher education or student-support professional associations.
• Experience with externally funded research or demonstrated potential to pursue external funding.
• Experience teaching and mentoring graduate students from varied backgrounds, including in online or hybrid environments.
