Plant Operator I (Acetylene Production)

Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States; onsite work at an acetylene production and filling facility.

Salary: $23.50 per hour

What you will do

• Safely operate equipment for handling and producing packaged gas cylinders.
• Load, unload, sort, label, and move cylinders using carts, forklifts, and material-handling equipment.
• Prepare high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling, including manifold connection and evacuation.
• Inspect cylinders, perform safety checks, and fill them by pressure and weight according to applicable standards.
• Complete inventory checks, quality-control sheets, and documentation required by DOT, FDA, OSHA, hirify.global, and distributor standards.
• Maintain cylinders and the work area while following hazardous-material and gas-handling procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets, cylinder labels, and safety procedures.
• Ability to perform basic calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift; training may be provided.
• Ability to perform physical plant-floor duties, including standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and handling tools and controls.
• Ability to regularly lift or move up to 60 pounds and move up to 800 pounds with material-handling equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, filling, or loading operations.
• Familiarity with the gas, welding, safety supply, or chemical industry.
• Strong communication, customer service, teamwork, attention to detail, and precision.
