Manufacturing Engineering Intern (Precision Technology)

Location: Boxborough, Massachusetts, United States; work includes office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.

What you will do

• Support lean manufacturing methods, continuous improvement initiatives, and kaizen events.
• Develop standard work through time studies, process observations, capacity analysis, line balancing, and workflow evaluation.
• Collect and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, constraints, waste, and improvement opportunities.
• Help design or improve fixtures, tooling, gauges, workstations, material flow solutions, layouts, drawings, bills of material, and technical documentation.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for process, quality, equipment, and productivity issues.
• Collaborate with operators, technicians, engineering, operations, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and EHS teams; prepare project updates and presentations.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Anticipated graduation between Winter 2026 and Spring 2028.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and problem-solving methods.
• Ability to collect and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.
• Clear written and verbal communication, collaboration, organization, and deadline-management skills.
• Willingness to work on the manufacturing floor, follow safety practices, wear required PPE, and occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with analytical or data visualization tools.
• Exposure to CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or a comparable platform.
