Communication Systems Engineer Modeling & Simulation II (Aerospace): Designing, modeling, integrating, and testing communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms with an accent on system architecture, link analysis, performance evaluation, and digital modeling. Focus on building simulation workflows, analyzing system and test data, supporting verification and integration, and resolving communications system issues across the product lifecycle.

Location: Austin, TX, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

  • Support the design and development of communication system architectures, interfaces, subsystems, and performance models.
  • Perform system modeling, link analysis, simulations, performance evaluations, trade studies, integration, verification, and testing.
  • Analyze simulation, system performance, and test data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Support root cause investigations, engineering changes, defect resolution, corrective actions, and system improvements.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, RF, electrical, mechanical, integration and test, quality, and program teams.
  • Prepare technical, interface control, verification, engineering change, and other product development documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, systems, computer engineering, or a related field with 2–5 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 0–3 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of communication systems, systems engineering, system architecture, requirements development, and interface management.
  • Experience with systems modeling, link analysis, performance evaluation, simulation tools, and engineering analysis.
  • Understanding of digital communications, RF fundamentals, networking, signal processing, interfaces, and system integration.
  • Experience or familiarity with tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, STK, Python, DOORS, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must meet U.S. Government space technology export control eligibility requirements.
