TL;DR
SME / Senior RF Modeling and Tools Engineer (RF Modeling/Simulation): Developing, integrating, verifying, and delivering production-quality RF signature models and analysis tools for radar, electronic warfare, sensor, and weapon-system simulations with an accent on RF propagation, signal processing, and physics-based modeling. Focus on implementing complex time- and frequency-domain behavior, validating models against measured and system-level data, and building maintainable software in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB.

Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States. U.S. citizenship is required, and the candidate must have a background permitting the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance.

Company

hirify.global/SEG supports the U.S. Navy and Missile Defense Agency through trade studies, design prototyping, and analysis of radar, EO/IR, seeker, electronic warfare, and weapon systems.

What you will do

  • Lead the development, integration, verification, delivery, and sustainment of RF signature models and analysis tools.
  • Translate RF physics and customer requirements into production-quality software for sensor, radar, electronic warfare, and weapon-system simulations.
  • Model propagation, attenuation, time delay, Doppler, waveform interaction, and coherent or incoherent superposition of RF components.
  • Own the full lifecycle of modeling tools, including requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, documentation, release, and sustainment.
  • Validate physics-based models against measured data, higher-fidelity simulations, analytical results, and system-level test cases.
  • Provide technical direction, collaborate with customers and stakeholders, and potentially lead and mentor engineers and software developers.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of professional experience in RF systems engineering, RF signature modeling, signal processing, propagation modeling, simulation, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of RF propagation, the superposition principle, Fourier transforms, convolution, and time- and frequency-domain representations.
  • Hands-on experience developing and delivering shipped or customer-accepted software and simulation products using C/C++, Python, and MATLAB.
  • Experience with software architecture, numerical implementation, verification and validation, test automation, documentation, source control, and release processes.

Nice to have

  • Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience with RF signature models, radar or electronic warfare simulations, complex I/Q data, waveform modeling, FFT/DFT, filtering, modulation, aliasing control, and time-frequency analysis.
  • Experience with Linux, CMake, Git, continuous integration, automated regression testing, parallel processing, GPU or high-performance computing.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy, Missile Defense Agency, or other Department of Defense programs.
  • Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and presenting modeling results to technical and program leadership.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on engineering and simulation capabilities supporting defense and operational systems.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineers, software developers, and program stakeholders.
  • Contribute to reusable modeling tools, software libraries, APIs, data interfaces, and test utilities.
