Metal Recovery Technician (Industrial Waste Management)

Location: Newark, New Jersey, United States; onsite industrial facility work required

Salary: $30.14–$40.10 per hour

What you will do

• Operate and mechanically repair equipment supporting residue, ferrous, and non-ferrous recovery systems.
• Perform ash and ferrous load-out operations using overhead cranes and operate the ferrous and ash crane systems.
• Monitor and maintain earth magnet conveyors, belt conveyors, motors, gearboxes, vibrating pans, grizzlies, screw conveyors, ECS magnets, drag conveyors, pug mills, and PLC control systems.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, including gearbox and motor replacements, conveyor belt repairs, roller and bearing replacements, screen and spring replacements, belt tracking, scraper adjustments, skirting replacement, guarding repairs, and structural repairs.
• Perform lockout/tagout procedures and maintain daily operational logs.
• Work various shifts, including nights and weekends when required, while maintaining strong safety awareness.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of experience operating heavy industrial machinery or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent walking, standing, climbing, sustained physical positions, and strenuous physical work.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and operate equipment that produces loud noise and vibration.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in an industrial environment.

Nice to have

• Military, formal technical, or apprentice training.
• Previous power plant or industrial experience.
• Experience operating front-end loaders, skid steers, man-lifts, Lulls, or forklifts.
• Welding experience in SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW.
