TL;DR
Senior Manager – Global Manufacturing Process Improvement (Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement): Building and deploying global manufacturing improvement systems that increase First Pass Yield, reduce Defects Per Unit, and prevent defects across JLG factories with an accent on process capability, quality integration, and standardized execution. Focus on leading root cause analysis, APQP and launch activities, structured problem solving, and scaling sustainable improvements across international manufacturing sites.

Location: Frederick, Maryland, United States. The role combines office-based work with physical activity in field and production environments and requires domestic and international travel.

Salary: $118,700–$211,300 per year.

What you will do

  • Design and deploy global manufacturing process improvement systems, standards, playbooks, metrics, and governance.
  • Own the enterprise approach for First Pass Yield and Defects Per Unit and drive adoption across sites, regions, and business units.
  • Lead zero-defect initiatives, process variation reduction, containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and sustainable resolution.
  • Coach Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams on 8D, A3, DMAIC, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving.
  • Integrate process and quality activities into new product development and manufacturing launches, including APQP, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Reaction Plans.
  • Use customer, warranty, field-quality, engineering, statistical, and data analysis to prioritize improvement investments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • At least eight years of related experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or manufacturing quality.
  • Demonstrated success leading improvement projects from problem definition through validated and sustained results.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or influencing cross-functional teams in a discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, process capability, APQP, and complex processes such as assembly, fabrication, welding, machining, automation, or paint operations.
  • Proficiency with Minitab, JMP, Excel, Power BI, or similar data analysis tools; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification; Master Black Belt experience is a plus.
  • Experience deploying an improvement or operating system across multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Experience with zero-defect strategies, error proofing, process controls, layered audits, and escape analysis.
