Senior / Principal Process Improvement Engineer

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States; onsite manufacturing role

Salary: $82,900–$134,300 per year

What you will do

• Lead complex manufacturing, process, and supplier issue resolution using 8D, A3, DMAIC, 5-Why, fishbone, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Design, develop, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve throughput, efficiency, capability, and product reliability.
• Lead continuous improvement projects targeting first-pass yield, defects, cycle time, scrap, rework, customer escapes, warranty, and cost.
• Analyze manufacturing data, identify systemic issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions that remain effective over time.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma activities including value stream mapping, standard work, error proofing, kaizen, and 5S.
• Provide technical guidance to Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, Suppliers, Operations, and other engineers and analysts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• At least five years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading improvement projects from problem definition through validated and sustained results.
• Working knowledge of structured problem solving and Lean manufacturing principles.
• Experience with engineering and analytical tools such as DOE, SPC, MSA, process capability studies, PFMEA, control plans, and root cause analysis.
• Hands-on experience working directly with manufacturing processes and cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Eight or more years of relevant experience for the Principal level.
• Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering degree.
• Experience with discrete manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, welding, or machining.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with Minitab, JMP, Excel, Power BI, ISO 9001, or AS9100.
