Process Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Springfield, Massachusetts, USA; travel to other Smiths facilities may be required for training and project support.

Salary: USD 80,000–115,000 per year

What you will do

• Implement manufacturing equipment, technologies, and production processes for tubing, hose, and end fitting products.
• Develop and execute CAPEX projects, including equipment selection, RFQs, vendor evaluations, design reviews, validation, and commissioning.
• Improve process capability, productivity, quality, equipment utilization, and cost performance through technical analysis and process optimization.
• Lead safety, ergonomic, risk-reduction, scrap-reduction, and downtime-reduction initiatives.
• Diagnose machinery, material, and process issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Train supervisors and operators and maintain manufacturing standards, work instructions, manuals, and process documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant manufacturing experience.
• At least five years of experience in manufacturing, production, or process engineering in wire and cable, hose, or tube extrusion manufacturing; alternatively, ten years of relevant experience in another manufacturing industry.
• Experience selecting, validating, implementing, and commissioning manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Experience with safety and ergonomic improvement programs and demonstrated project management experience.
• Strong communication, organization, technical leadership, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
• Willingness to travel to other facilities for training and project support.

• Six Sigma training or certification.
