Principal Software Engineer (RAIN RFID)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid workplace with onsite work at the North Beacon Hill lab up to 3 days per week

Salary: $185,000–$277,600 base pay annually across the US

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve the RAIN RFID data integration platform from embedded readers through cloud services.
• Architect high-throughput stream-processing pipelines for large volumes of real-time RFID data.
• Develop algorithms that extract actionable insights from raw RFID data.
• Build distributed systems that scale from a single reader to global deployments.
• Integrate machine learning models and inference frameworks with platform software in partnership with ML teams.
• Define technical vision, mentor engineers, promote best practices, and deliver reliable, well-tested software across release cycles.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software development experience with a BS in ECE, CS, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in embedded development with C, C++, and/or Rust.
• Proficiency in Python, C#/.NET, or Go.
• Experience with embedded Linux platforms such as Yocto or Zephyr.
• Experience implementing machine learning algorithms and using inference frameworks such as LiteRT, CUDA, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems, working with cross-disciplinary teams, and building modular software with strong test coverage.

Nice to have

• Experience with RFID, IoT, Bluetooth, or other embedded end-user technologies.
• Familiarity with NATS, MQTT, Kafka, AMQP, or ZeroMQ.
