Firmware Engineer (Embedded C)

Location: San Bruno, California; must work in the office 3–5 days per week

Salary: $185,000–$210,000 annual base salary, excluding benefits and potential equity

What you will do

• Develop, test, review, and debug embedded software for hirify.global systems.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, product designers, and cross-functional partners on embedded software and hardware validation.
• Implement prototype drivers and test them on physical hardware systems.
• Debug systems during commissioning and support testing activities.
• Work with hardware components and laboratory equipment to improve system-level performance.

Requirements

• Completed BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in embedded software development.
• Ability to work 3–5 days per week in the San Bruno office.
• Experience writing, testing, and debugging embedded C for electromechanical components and sensors.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded Linux systems, preferably Yocto.
• Experience debugging physical hardware with oscilloscopes, network analyzers, or logic analyzers.
• Experience developing for load cells, DC motors, PID controllers, or DC fans.
• Experience with Python scripting, hardware-in-the-loop testing platforms, or CI/CD pipelines for production code.
