Managing Consultant - Coding and Middle Revenue Cycle - Healthcare

Location: Remote - USA. Must have legal right to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship. Consistent travel of 50%–80% is required based on project and client needs.

Salary: $120,000–$165,000 per year. Final title and compensation depend on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Plan and manage coding and middle revenue cycle engagements, workstreams, budgets, staffing plans, schedules, risks, and client deliverables.
• Lead assessments of coding, clinical documentation integrity, health information management, revenue integrity, denials, charge capture, and reimbursement operations.
• Analyze coding, documentation, claims, denials, workforce, operational, and financial data to identify root causes and quantify improvement opportunities.
• Design future-state operating models, governance structures, workflows, policies, controls, performance standards, dashboards, and monitoring frameworks.
• Evaluate computer-assisted coding, autonomous coding, natural language processing, AI-enabled workflows, and revenue cycle technologies, supporting selection, implementation, testing, adoption, and monitoring.
• Present recommendations and financial, operational, compliance, and strategic implications to client executives while coaching junior professionals and supporting proposals and thought leadership.

Requirements

• Five or more years of healthcare consulting or industry experience in coding, health information management, clinical documentation integrity, or related middle revenue cycle functions.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in health information management, healthcare administration, business, finance, accounting, nursing, or a related discipline.
• Active RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CIC, COC, or comparable coding or health information management credential required.
• Experience leading consulting, performance improvement, process redesign, transformation, implementation, concurrent workstreams, project teams, and client engagements.
• Current knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, official coding guidelines, Medicare reimbursement methodologies, MS-DRG, APC assignment, severity capture, and risk adjustment.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, plus experience with healthcare datasets, electronic health records, patient accounting, encoder, clinical documentation, health information management, and revenue cycle systems.

Nice to have

• Previous consulting experience and additional credentials such as CCDS, CDIP, CPMA, CHDA, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, CHFP, or CRCR.
