Security Engineer (Cloud Security)

Location: New York City, on-site

Salary: $270,000–$330,000 base salary annually, plus equity, bonus compensation if applicable, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement cloud security foundations across AWS and GCP, including account and project structures, IAM, network segmentation, and secure service-to-service communication.
• Author and maintain Terraform modules for IAM, networking, logging, encryption, policy enforcement, and secure infrastructure defaults.
• Design cloud identity and networking systems, including workload identity, service accounts, role assumption, private connectivity, egress control, firewalling, and isolation boundaries.
• Build security automation across CI/CD and cloud environments and secure production Kubernetes workloads on GKE and EKS.
• Define logging, monitoring, and detection pipelines, and perform threat modeling and architectural reviews.
• Review critical infrastructure changes, mentor engineers, and provide technical direction for cloud security.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating cloud security platforms or foundational infrastructure in AWS and GCP.
• Deep Terraform expertise, including large-scale state management, module design, and safe rollout strategies.
• Strong experience with cloud IAM, networking, secure systems design, automation, and infrastructure guardrails.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container security, including cluster hardening, RBAC, workload identity, image security, and runtime controls.
• Ability to define technical direction, operate in ambiguous environments, and influence architecture through technical depth.

Nice to have

• Experience designing multi-account AWS organizations or large GCP project hierarchies.
• Familiarity with policy-as-code systems such as OPA or custom policy engines.
• Experience with cloud-native detection and security posture tools.
• Background in high-growth startups or infrastructure-heavy platforms.
