TL;DR
Project Controls Manager (Renewable Fuels): Leading project controls for a renewable fuels facility, managing cost, schedule, budgeting, reporting, and project control systems with an accent on large-scale project execution, portfolio oversight, and stakeholder communication. Focus on analyzing project performance metrics, forecasting costs and schedules, managing risks and opportunities, and supporting refinery shutdown windows.

Location: Onsite in Martinez, California, Monday–Thursday on a 4/10 schedule, with core business hours from 6:30 AM to 4 PM. Weekend and extended-hours support is required during shutdown windows, typically 2–3 times per year. Travel is 5% or less.

Salary: $141,300–$212,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead the project controls team and provide guidance, training, and support for project control deliverables and procedures.
  • Manage cost control, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, expenditure tracking, and project performance KPIs across the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the budget portfolio for multiple projects, events, and programs within the division.
  • Prepare and present project status reports covering risks, opportunities, issues, changes, and deviations from plan.
  • Ensure project systems, procedures, corporate policies, RSP deliverables, and industry standards are followed.
  • Analyze trends, manage project risks and opportunities, and customize project control systems to meet project requirements.

Requirements

  • Must work onsite in Martinez, California on the specified 4/10 schedule.
  • High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree in construction management, business, accounting, or engineering is preferred.
  • At least seven years of project management, project controls, accounting, scheduling, and execution experience focused on large-scale projects.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Word and Outlook.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without future visa sponsorship, obtain a TWIC Card, hold a valid driver's license, pass a hair drug test and physical, and perform field work while wearing required refinery PPE.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau reporting and data analytics.
  • Experience with Primavera P6.
  • Advanced competency in cost control, scheduling, and forecasting.
  • Understanding of project management practices across the engineering project lifecycle.
