Project Engineer / Assistant PM

Location: Onsite in San Jose, California, United States

Salary: $135,000–$176,000 annually

What you will do

• Support Senior Project Managers with planning, execution, coordination, and closeout of complex CAPx construction projects.
• Coordinate owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
• Monitor construction activities and verify compliance with drawings, specifications, schedules, codes, quality requirements, and safety standards.
• Maintain project schedules, milestone tracking, action-item logs, RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement records, inspections, and other project controls.
• Assist with payment applications, cost tracking, forecasting, change management, and budget reporting.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, punch walks, issue resolution, turnover, and project communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
• 5–7 years of construction or project management experience.
• Experience supporting projects from design through construction and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, scheduling, cost control, and project documentation.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty-system drawings.
• Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex commercial, industrial, life sciences, pharmaceutical, R&D, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, robotics, or high-tech facilities.
• Experience with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
