Supervisor Meter Services (Natural Gas)

Location: Rockville, Maryland, United States. Field-based role with a Monday–Friday schedule of approximately 6:00 AM–3:00 PM and 24/7 on-call availability for emergency response.

Salary: $103,500–$150,750 annually, based on experience, education, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead daily meter services operations, including meter reading, ERT maintenance and replacement, meter audits, inside leak surveys, and customer appointments.
• Supervise union employees and contractors responsible for AMR data collection, routing, customer access coordination, and leak survey operations.
• Use Itron, RouteSmart, SAP, Click, and similar systems to monitor performance, manage work activities, and maintain operational statistics.
• Assign work orders, investigate account and billing issues, research customer and device information, and support customer service activities.
• Develop departmental processes, work practices, employee training programs, reports, and audit documentation.
• Coach field employees, monitor contractor performance, promote safe work practices, and support emergency operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and at least five years of experience in natural gas, utility operations, customer service, or process systems.
• At least two years of supervisory, leadership, or team lead experience.
• Experience leading people, managing projects, prioritizing competing work activities, and making sound operational decisions.
• Strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with employees, customers, contractors, and business partners.
• Proficiency with computer systems and software used for data analysis, reporting, and operational support.

Nice to have

• Meter services experience, including meter reading, ERT maintenance, AMR technologies, or meter audits.
• Natural gas or utility industry experience and experience supervising field employees or contractors.
• Experience working in a union environment.
• Familiarity with SAP, Itron, RouteSmart, Click, or similar operational systems.
• Proactive, team-oriented leadership style and willingness to learn all aspects of meter services operations.
