Industrial Hygienist (Aerospace Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Develop and execute the site industrial hygiene program, including exposure assessments, sampling plans, monitoring, documentation, and reassessments.
• Assess chemical and physical hazards across manufacturing, laboratories, R&D, machining, composites, avionics, and testing operations.
• Evaluate exposure risks involving advanced materials, chemicals, noise, non-ionizing radiation, and emerging processes.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, and EHS to implement engineering and process controls using the hierarchy of controls.
• Provide technical guidance on respiratory protection, PPE, occupational exposure limits, hearing conservation, non-ionizing radiation, and medical surveillance.
• Develop procedures, training, technical guidance, employee communications, investigations, and exposure records while supporting broader site EHS programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of professional industrial hygiene experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, advanced materials, R&D, or another technically complex environment.
• Experience conducting occupational exposure assessments, developing sampling strategies, and using monitoring methods and equipment for chemical and physical hazards.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA requirements and recognized industrial hygiene standards, including ACGIH, NIOSH, ANSI, and AIHA guidance.
• Ability to interpret exposure limits, toxicological information, sampling data, and process information and convert findings into practical controls.
• Strong technical writing, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work onsite with engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and leadership.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or Certified Industrial Hygienist credential, or progress toward certification.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, composites, materials, or high-tempo R&D environments.
• Experience evaluating ventilation, containment, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, medical surveillance, or exposure risks involving advanced materials.
• Experience developing or scaling industrial hygiene programs in a growing organization.
