Principal Hardware Engineer (Networking)

Location: Hybrid in Santa Clara, California, United States

Salary: $208,000–$260,000 base salary annually

What you will do

• Define system and board-level architectures for new networking products.
• Design digital and analog circuits, high-speed interfaces, clocking, power distribution, and system interconnects.
• Establish signal integrity rules, design constraints, and compliance requirements for high-speed systems.
• Lead component selection, simulation, schematic capture, PCB design-rule development, board bring-up, debugging, verification, and validation.
• Manage prototype builds, design transfer, production introduction, manufacturing readiness, qualification, and product release.
• Investigate development, production, and field failures, drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and mentor engineers across hardware projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• 10–15 years of experience designing networking products, communications hardware, server platforms, high-performance computing systems, or equivalent hardware.
• Expertise in hardware architecture, schematic capture, component selection, PCB design, and system-level design.
• Strong electrical fundamentals and signal integrity experience with high-speed digital hardware, including processors, memory, networking devices, transceivers, and high-speed buses.
• Experience with Ethernet standards including IEEE 802.3, optical communications, low-noise power regulation, board bring-up, validation, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations.
• Experience using laboratory diagnostic equipment and OrCAD schematic capture tools.

• Experience with related PCB design and analysis tools.
