Principal Signal Integrity Engineer (Networking Platforms)

Location: Onsite at an HPE office; the stated compensation location is California, United States

Salary: USD 153,500–310,500 annual base salary in California, United States. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Define SI/PI strategy, methodologies, design standards, PCB stackup strategies, routing methods, and validation approaches across networking hardware platforms.
• Lead signal and power integrity architecture for next-generation networking systems from concept through production.
• Provide technical leadership for high-speed interfaces, including advanced SerDes technologies and complex networking platforms.
• Develop simulation, modeling, and automation methods to improve engineering productivity and design quality.
• Investigate field, validation, and manufacturing issues involving signal integrity, power integrity, timing, and electromagnetic interactions.
• Partner with ASIC, package, PCB, mechanical, thermal, and system architects; mentor engineers across multiple sites and guide critical technical decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in signal integrity, power integrity, package design, PCB design, and high-speed system architecture.
• Expertise in electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, crosstalk, loss mechanisms, jitter, equalization, channel optimization, and advanced SerDes technologies.
• Expert knowledge of time-domain, frequency-domain, statistical, BER, and electromagnetic simulation methods.
• Experience with Synopsys HSPICE, Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, SIwave, PowerSI, Cadence environments, VNAs, TDRs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and compliance equipment.
• Ability to correlate simulation results with laboratory measurements and lead cross-functional technical decisions.
