Senior Legal Counsel (AI)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid role with three days per week in Berlin

Digital healthcare businesses are building a European health platform that delivers personalised treatments across dermatology, weight management, and preventative care.

What you will do

• Manage medicinal product and medical device compliance, litigation risk, debt recovery, and escalation to external counsel.
• Advise product and engineering teams on healthcare, digital health, and AI regulation.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage German-law commercial agreements, including supply, patient, and vendor contracts.
• Advise marketing and medical teams on German advertising, health claims, and consumer protection requirements.
• Own GDPR/BDSG compliance in Germany, including records of processing, DPIAs, breach response, and regulator liaison.
• Manage corporate governance, employment law matters, and scalable legal operations, including templates, contract management, automation, and legal-tech tools.

Requirements

• German-qualified lawyer (Volljurist/Volljuristin) with at least 4 years' PQE.
• Experience operating as sole or lead counsel with a high degree of autonomy.
• Current expertise in relevant areas of German and EU law, including data protection, healthcare, commercial, corporate, and employment law.
• Fluent German and English, with the ability to draft and negotiate confidently in both languages.
• Pragmatic, commercially minded, fast-learning, and comfortable advising senior stakeholders and making autonomous decisions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with UK Group Legal.

Nice to have

• Experience acting as or supporting a Datenschutzbeauftragter.
• Background in healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
