What you will do

• Act as the designated Data Protection Officer for hirify.global Bank Europe SE and other EU-based affiliates.
• Serve as the primary, official point of contact for German Federal and State Data Protection Authorities (e.g., HBDI).
• Provide expert, risk-based privacy guidance to business units and engineers to enable compliant development of financial products and tech platforms.
• Advise on and monitor Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for high-risk processing, including profiling and AI-driven systems.
• Align privacy risk management with BaFin requirements (MaRisk, BAIT) and anti-financial crime standards (AML/KYC).
• Manage complex international data flows utilizing SCCs, BCRs, and transfer impact assessments (TIAs).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (Law Degree helpful).
• At least 7 years of work experience, with 5+ years specifically in the Privacy or Data Protection domain, ideally within financial services.
• Deep, authoritative knowledge of the GDPR and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
• Proven track record of serving as an appointed DPO or Deputy DPO with direct experience managing German supervisory authorities.
• Professional fluency in both German and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
• Familiarity with the TDDDG and the EU AI Act is highly desirable.

Nice to have

• Certifications such as CIPP/E, TÜV / DEKRA, GDDcert.EU or Betriebliche/r Datenschutzbeauftragte/r (IHK).
