Virtual Desktop Engineer (VDI)

Salary: $150,000–$190,000 annually

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure using VMware Horizon, Citrix, Azure, AWS, and similar platforms.
• Design network and system architectures, define requirements, and develop implementation approaches for mission-critical environments.
• Create and manage desktop pools, user profiles, configurations, access policies, and security controls.
• Perform patch management, STIG and TCNO compliance activities, monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Provide end-user support and training while collaborating with security and network teams.
• Maintain VDI documentation, system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Requirements

• Top Secret clearance with SCI access is required.
• 10+ years of experience designing, installing, configuring, and managing VMware virtualization environments, including vSphere, vSAN, Horizon, Workspace ONE, ThinApp, and App Volumes.
• IAT Level II certification.
• Experience with VMware, Horizon, Citrix, Azure, or other virtual technology stacks.
• Knowledge of Windows 10/11 and RHEL desktop master image management, Active Directory, networking protocols, DNS, NTP, TCP/IP, DFS, WSUS, VLANs, and routing.
• Experience with desktop application virtualization, patch management, user access policies, security protocols, and complex technical troubleshooting.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of experience or equivalent background.
• DoD network experience and skills in PowerShell, Python, Bash, backup and restore, SAN, network or server administration, and Elastic.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, performance monitoring, and database implementations.
• Microsoft Expert/MCSE, VMware VCP, CCNP+, or RHCSA certification.
