Linux Engineer

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. The role supports on-premises and cloud environments and requires candidates to qualify as U.S. persons under U.S. export control laws.

Salary: $109,200–$174,600 per year, with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Own, design, install, configure, maintain, and support enterprise Linux systems across Amazon Linux, Ubuntu, and RHEL environments.
• Operate Linux infrastructure across on-premises, VMware, AWS, and Azure environments.
• Perform root cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting for system, network, authentication, and performance issues.
• Automate infrastructure operations with shell scripting, Ansible, Python, Terraform, and other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Integrate Linux with Active Directory and configure Kerberos, LDAP, NSS, PAM, SPNs, keytabs, and TLS/SSL certificates.
• Support containers, storage, monitoring, security compliance, documentation, implementation planning, and on-call incident response.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of professional Linux experience in mixed operating-system environments.
• Strong knowledge of multiple Linux distributions, core services, troubleshooting, patch management, endpoint protection, compliance, and server hardening.
• Experience with hybrid multi-cloud environments and virtualization technologies.
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills across global teams.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under U.S. export control laws; non-U.S. persons are not eligible, and visa sponsorship for an export control license is unavailable.

Nice to have

• RHCSA, RHCE, LFCS, LFCE, or LPIC certification.
• AWS, CISSP, CISM, or ITIL certification.
• Experience in regulated or security-sensitive environments such as GxP, DISA-STIG, CIS, or PCI.
• Experience developing long-term enterprise infrastructure strategies.
