Founding Recruiter (AI Infrastructure)

Location: San Francisco, California, with hybrid work and a minimum of three days per week in the office

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own full-cycle recruiting for technical and strategic non-technical roles, from sourcing and outreach through screening and offer closing.
• Partner with hiring managers to define requirements, success criteria, candidate profiles, and hiring standards.
• Build repeatable sourcing motions, structured interview loops, scorecards, debrief practices, and closing strategies.
• Own the recruiting stack, currently Ashby, including data integrity, reporting, and tooling evaluation.
• Manage agencies, sourcing partners, related budgets, candidate experience, and talent-brand initiatives.
• Use pipeline and conversion data to operate the function and build a talent team as hiring volume increases.

Requirements

• 8+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including experience at a high-growth startup, talent-dense engineering organization, or top-tier search firm.
• Proven success closing difficult technical roles and communicating effectively with infrastructure and systems engineers.
• Experience owning a recruiting function, including ATS administration, process design, reporting, and agency management.
• Experience building and managing a small talent team of sourcers, coordinators, or recruiters.
• Ability to operate strategically and hands-on, including compensation discussions and writing sourcing outreach.
• Fluency with modern recruiting tools such as Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, Gem or Juicebox, Slack, and Notion.

Nice to have

• Experience as a founding or first recruiter at a Series A–C AI, deep-tech, or infrastructure company.
• Employer-brand work that measurably improved inbound pipeline.
• Hiring experience across engineering, go-to-market, operations, and general and administrative functions.
• Hands-on experience with Ashby.
