Location: Remote - USA. Candidates near offices may choose fully remote or hybrid work with office attendance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Occasional business travel is required. Authorization to work in the United States is required.
Salary: $104,000–$155,000 annually, adjusted based on location, experience, qualifications, and market data.

What you will do
- Lead AP assessment systems strategy, roadmap execution, digital assessment inventories, and assessment resource architecture.
- Represent assessment requirements and dependencies in discussions with product and technology teams.
- Translate complex assessment systems data into executive reporting, data visualizations, and strategic presentations.
- Develop the assessment design intake framework and maintain the knowledge base covering assessment principles, item design, form development, validity, fairness, and psychometrics.
- Partner with psychometrics and executive leadership on multi-year test form planning and innovative digital assessment practices.
- Lead the divisional AP Assessment Community of Practice, including agenda-setting, speaker engagement, logistics, and resource archiving.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in assessment design, test development, or assessment systems.
- Deep expertise in educational assessment design, validation, delivery at scale, psychometrics, fairness, and large-scale examinations.
- Experience leading strategic initiatives and aligning product, technology, psychometrics, curriculum, and assessment stakeholders without direct authority.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, including executive-level insights, visualizations, and presentations.
- Fluency in assessment blueprints, test and form constraints, item pools, scoring specifications, and related data structures.
- Knowledge of QTI, APIP, HTML, WCAG, metadata schemas, JSON, Python or SAS, SharePoint, Smartsheet, PowerPoint, Microsoft 365, and collaboration platforms such as Productboard, Jira, and Confluence.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with item data protocols, programming languages, and accessibility frameworks.
- Experience with emerging assessment practices and generative AI tools.
