Lead Instructional Designer (SaaS)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada

What you will do

• Drive complex instructional design initiatives across departments as an autonomous individual contributor.
• Own the transition from Skilljar to a custom-built LMS, defining authoring workflows, learner experience requirements, and platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with technical writers, enablement managers, customer operations managers, product managers, engineers, and solutions architects.
• Design technical curricula, role-based certifications, self-paced academies, simulated environments, sandbox exercises, and API or code walkthroughs.
• Translate product releases and technical specifications into accurate, timely learning content.
• Track learner telemetry, product adoption, time-to-value, course completion, and certification results to measure impact.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of instructional design experience in B2B SaaS, developer tooling, or a high-growth technology environment.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and managing stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
• Hands-on experience defining requirements for LMS implementations, migrations, or custom builds, including SCORM, xAPI, and LTI.
• Ability to work with API documentation, cloud architectures, developer workflows, and SaaS platform configurations.
• Advanced proficiency with Articulate 360, Camtasia, Loom, and Figma.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, rapid prototyping with SAM, data-driven decision-making, and stakeholder management.

Nice to have

• Experience moving from customer education or LXP platforms such as Skilljar to custom learning environments.
