Engineering Manager

Location: New York, United States. Remote-first role with a globally distributed engineering team.

Base salary: $205,000–$225,000 per year, plus a discretionary bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the health, output, growth, hiring, career development, and performance of an engineering team distributed across time zones.
• Partner with product management to define roadmaps that balance feature delivery, technical investment, and operational health.
• Set quality standards for engineering practices, observability, reliability, testing, and code review.
• Run planning, prioritization, retrospectives, delivery coordination, and dependency management across teams.
• Contribute to engineering-wide standards, tooling, process improvements, and developer growth initiatives.
• Handle incidents and operational issues, own follow-up actions, and provide regular feedback to engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing teams of five or more engineers.
• Experience leading distributed or remote-first teams across multiple time zones.
• Strong software engineering background with the technical depth to guide architecture and infrastructure decisions.
• Experience partnering with product management to define priorities and deliver outcomes.
• Track record of hiring, onboarding, developing, and retaining engineers.
• Focus on observability, analytics and reporting, testing practices, and reliable delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, Scala, React, TypeScript, Next.js, GraphQL, or gRPC.
• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes.
• Background in real-time, event-driven, or high-value transaction systems.
• Experience with engineering standards, governance, or communities of practice.
• Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, or auction domains.
