Engineering Manager, Insights Platform (AI)

Location: US Remote — must live in a US state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (occasional office visits/offsites may apply). Offices: United States.

Salary: $212,000 — $265,000 USD per year, plus bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

What you will do

• Lead the Insights Platform that guides hosts on earnings, quality and listings across email, push, in-product experiences, dashboards and conversational agents.
• Drive the platform's evolution from batch to real-time and rules-based to model-driven, with AI-assisted insight creation and personalization.
• Set platform strategy with Product, Design and Data Science leaders, including insight ranking, personalization and measurement.
• Build reliable, performant and scalable systems for insight creation, personalization, cross-channel delivery and measurement.
• Contribute hands-on through design and code reviews while mentoring senior and staff engineers.
• Define long-term technical strategy and align stakeholders on shared goals and roadmaps.

Requirements

• 10+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years as an Engineering Manager owning large-scale software systems.
• Depth in backend, data or ML platforms; experience with distributed systems, data pipelines and real-time/streaming architectures.
• Experience applying ML and LLMs in production for personalization/ranking, with experimentation and measurement to prove impact.
• Track record of setting multi-year technical direction and leading major re-architectures (e.g., batch to real-time).
• Experience managing and growing senior and staff engineers.
• Strong communication and influence across technical and non-technical partners.
