OT Network Engineer (Manufacturing Operations)

Location: Jackson, Tennessee, United States. This is an onsite role requiring regular physical presence in a manufacturing environment, with limited travel to other manufacturing facilities.

Salary: $76,400–$120,010 USD annually.

What you will do

• Own, design, configure, deploy, maintain, and optimize OT network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and VPN connectivity.
• Monitor network performance and maintain availability targets exceeding 99.5% for critical manufacturing infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot OT network incidents and support connectivity for PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, industrial control systems, and connected manufacturing technologies.
• Implement network segmentation based on Purdue Model principles and support vulnerability remediation, patching, secure remote access, and infrastructure hardening.
• Coordinate with Automation Engineering, Information Technology, Information Security, Operations, Maintenance, vendors, and system integrators.
• Support plant expansions, Industry 4.0 initiatives, digital transformation, documentation, change management, and disaster recovery activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, industrial technology, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3–7 years of experience in network engineering, network administration, or infrastructure support, including at least 2 years in manufacturing, industrial, or OT environments.
• Hands-on experience with Ethernet networking, routing, switching, wireless technologies, firewalls, and VPN connectivity.
• Working knowledge of OPC, Modbus, PROFINET, CIP, and DNP3 industrial communication protocols.
• Experience troubleshooting network infrastructure in production or industrial environments, with strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• CCNA certification or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cisco Industrial Ethernet, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ISE, Catalyst Center, or comparable enterprise networking solutions.
• Familiarity with Cisco Cyber Vision or similar OT cybersecurity monitoring platforms.
• Knowledge of Purdue Model segmentation, OT security principles, and ISA/IEC 62443 practices.
• Experience supporting manufacturing automation systems, PLCs, SCADA platforms, and industrial control systems.
• CCNP or equivalent advanced networking certification.
