Forestry Officer (Timber Value Chain and Business Development)

Location: Brussels, Belgium; fixed-term staff position for one year with the possibility of extension.

What you will do

• Provide technical advisory services and backstopping for Forest Partnerships and forest-based value chain development.
• Analyze forest-related value chains, markets, investment opportunities, and services in the forest bio-economy.
• Support the formulation, funding, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of field projects.
• Guide business planning, sustainable business models, capacity building, mentoring, and access to finance for partners and beneficiaries.
• Contribute to national and regional sustainable financing strategies and resource mobilization activities.
• Represent the programme at international, regional, and national meetings and undertake missions to monitor progress.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in business administration, public administration, economics, social science, political science, or a related field.
• At least seven years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration, economics, or a related area.
• Working proficiency in English and French is required.
• Experience in programme or project formulation, analysis, planning, implementation, investments, access to finance, or management in a large international organization.
• Knowledge of planning and budgetary processes and tools such as management information systems and Oracle Financials.
• Ability to advise on financial actions, human resource processing, procurement, project cycle management, and complex operational problems.

• Work experience in more than one location or area, particularly in field positions.

• Intermediate knowledge of Spanish.
