Senior AI Data Scientist

Location: Hybrid role based in Bristol, United Kingdom, with at least two days per week or 40% of working time in the office

What you will do

• Design and conduct research into retrieval, semantic, and agentic approaches for analytical reasoning and decision support.
• Build benchmarks, evaluation frameworks, and experimental methodologies for objective assessment of AI solutions.
• Prototype and evaluate AI capabilities using Python, data analysis, and large language model technologies.
• Produce technical evaluations, comparative assessments, and research outputs to inform technology decisions.
• Develop design patterns for conversational and agentic analytics experiences.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate research findings into practical recommendations for enterprise adoption.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of retrieval methods, search strategies, and retrieval-augmented generation architectures.
• Understanding of large language model architectures, reasoning techniques, and agentic systems.
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks and applying experimentation and statistical methods.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills, including BigQuery, Teradata, or equivalent platforms.
• Research methodology expertise, including literature reviews and hypothesis-driven experimentation.
• Python development and AI prototyping skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of semantic layers and metrics modelling.
• Experience with ontologies, knowledge representation, taxonomies, and metadata design.
• Exposure to knowledge graphs, graph-based reasoning, NL2SQL, Text-to-SQL, conversational analytics, dialogue with data, enterprise data architecture, or data products.
