Microbiology Lab Technician II (3rd Shift)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; onsite, 3rd shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM Sunday night through Friday morning

Target pay: $26–$30 per hour plus a 15% third-shift differential.

What you will do

• Perform routine microbiological testing according to approved SOPs and cGMP requirements.
• Conduct environmental monitoring, including viable air, surface, personnel, and non-viable particulate monitoring.
• Collect and process water samples and support sample preparation, incubation, and documentation.
• Prepare, sterilize, and autoclave media, glassware, and laboratory materials.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, verify equipment readiness, document results, and review records for completeness.
• Trend environmental monitoring data, communicate issues, and collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing on investigations and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or coursework in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field is strongly preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory environment.
• Basic knowledge of microbiological techniques, aseptic practices, laboratory safety, cGMP, GDP, and laboratory SOPs.
• Ability to gown aseptically and work in cleanroom environments.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, written and verbal communication, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; flexibility to work overtime or adjusted schedules when required.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, food, or contract testing laboratories.
• Experience performing environmental monitoring in controlled environments.
