Intern - Microbiology

Location: Onsite in Birmingham, Alabama; Knoxville, Tennessee; Jacksonville, Florida; West Monroe, Louisiana; or Daphne, Alabama, United States. The internship includes an immersive, in-person intern event.

Pay: $17.75–$22 per hour.

What you will do

• Shadow laboratory professionals and learn diagnostic workflows, instrumentation, and department operations.
• Assist with specimen organization, inventory, workspace preparation, and other non-testing laboratory activities.
• Participate in approved mock testing, demonstrations, and basic laboratory techniques under supervision.
• Support approved laboratory projects and follow safety and compliance procedures.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in chemistry, biology, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• Interest in laboratory science and the diagnostics industry.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow laboratory procedures.
• Ability to learn new laboratory skills, take initiative, and work independently under general supervision.
• Professional conduct, punctuality, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2029; current students in related programs may also apply.
