Clinical Lab Assistant II (Medical Laboratory)

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL; onsite night shift

Salary: $20.80–$28.08 per hour

What you will do

• Receive, register, process, distribute, and prepare clinical specimens for testing and transport to reference laboratories.
• Enter and retrieve specimen information and test results in laboratory and hospital computer systems, including LIS and Epic.
• Perform waived and moderate-complexity diagnostic testing, microbiology setups, and other testing preparation duties under CLS direction.
• Verify instruments and test kits, perform quality control and maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and operate laboratory automation systems.
• Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collections, manage temperature-sensitive biological transport, and coordinate courier pickups.
• Communicate specimen rejections, critical or notifiable results, outstanding orders, and operational issues to appropriate clinical personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least one year of experience in a general laboratory, specimen processing, or phlebotomy area, or enrollment in a laboratory-related education program.
• Ability to perform accurate data entry, specimen handling, testing, documentation, and laboratory quality procedures.
• Ability to work onsite in Chicago on a full-time third-shift schedule.

Nice to have

• Phlebotomy certification or training from an accredited school or institution.
