Senior Software Engineer, Emerging Product (AI)

Location: Remote-first, based in the United States; attendance at multiple company-wide and team-specific onsites is expected throughout the year.

What you will do

• Own problems from discovery through implementation, deployment, and evaluation in production.
• Build full-stack features across user interfaces, backend services, integrations, data, and infrastructure.
• Work with product, design, business, onboarding, and customer success teammates to identify useful product improvements.
• Prototype, release, and refine ideas using customer feedback, usage data, and incremental delivery.
• Make architecture decisions, simplify existing systems, and improve performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Strengthen engineering practices through mentoring, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and hiring support.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in startup-like environments.
• Full-stack experience with JavaScript, Ruby, or Python; Rails or a comparable web framework; React or another frontend framework; PostgreSQL; RESTful APIs; and cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP.
• Experience working directly with users through interviews, onboarding support, customer conversations, or product metrics.
• Ability to prioritize, ship continuously, solve ambiguous problems, and operate autonomously in a distributed environment.
• Clear asynchronous communication skills and willingness to work across technical and product responsibilities.
• Comfort using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Code Interpreter, or Claude.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Founding or early engineering experience.
• Experience with education, fundraising, or donor engagement platforms.
• Experience with low-code tools, internal platforms, scrappy MVPs, workflow automation, or AI-powered systems.
• Contributions to product design, go-to-market strategy, or customer success.
