Staff+ Software Engineer, Enterprise Knowledge Work (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY; hybrid policy requires staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $405,000–$485,000 USD

What you will do

• Own the technical design and end-to-end delivery of enterprise-facing products across the stack.
• Partner with product, design, and go-to-market teams to turn enterprise workflows into shipped products.
• Set technical direction and standards for architecture, code quality, and team development practices.
• Work with enterprise customers and sales to translate customer insights into engineering priorities.
• Collaborate with research to improve models through evaluations, failure-mode analysis, and customer learnings.
• Mentor engineers and build core primitives that help knowledge workers use Claude across industries and roles.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, ideally including 2+ years at Staff or an equivalent technical leadership level.
• Experience leading the design and delivery of complex customer-facing products across the full stack.
• Experience building AI products and turning model capabilities into usable applications.
• Comfort working directly with enterprise customers and translating their needs into technical decisions.
• Experience building products from 0 to 1 in fast-moving environments and setting technical direction with limited precedent.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.

• Experience working with research teams to improve domain-specific model capabilities and evaluation frameworks.
