Industrial Hygienist (Aerospace/Defense)

Location: Primarily onsite in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, with periodic travel and operational support in Midland, Texas. Regular presence is required in manufacturing, test, and production environments involving hazardous and energetic materials.

What you will do

• Develop and execute the site industrial hygiene program, including exposure assessments, sampling plans, monitoring, documentation, and reassessment.
• Assess chemical and physical hazards related to manufacturing, energetic materials, testing, airborne contaminants, noise, and non-ionizing radiation.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, Energetics Safety, and EHS teams to implement ventilation, containment, process, and other engineering controls.
• Provide industrial hygiene input during facility design, commissioning, equipment and process reviews, and operational changes.
• Support respiratory protection, PPE selection, hearing conservation, medical surveillance, exposure investigations, training, and employee communications.
• Interpret OSHA requirements, industrial hygiene standards, exposure data, toxicological information, and occupational exposure limits to communicate risks and develop recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of professional industrial hygiene experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, chemical processing, energetics, or another technically complex industrial environment.
• Experience conducting occupational exposure assessments, developing sampling strategies, and using monitoring methods and equipment for chemical and physical hazards.
• Working knowledge of OSHA occupational health requirements and recognized industrial hygiene practices, including ACGIH, NIOSH, ANSI, and AIHA guidance.
• Ability to interpret exposure limits, toxicological information, sampling data, and technical process information and convert findings into practical controls.
• Ability to work onsite in Rio Rancho and periodically travel to Midland, Texas; the role may involve hazardous and energetic materials, PPE, and occasional work outside normal business hours.

Nice to have

• Master's degree or Certified Industrial Hygienist credential, or demonstrated progress toward certification.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, propulsion, energetic materials, chemical manufacturing, or other high-hazard environments.
• Experience with facility commissioning, manufacturing scale-up, ventilation and containment controls, or rapidly evolving operations.
• Experience supporting respiratory protection, hearing conservation, medical surveillance, process safety, or industrial hygiene program development.
