Lead Legal Counsel, Group DPO (Fintech): Defining and executing Bitpanda Group’s global data protection strategy across digital assets, financial services, blockchain, and AI with an accent on GDPR compliance, regulatory engagement, and enterprise privacy controls. Focus on leading authority interactions, managing data breach and DSAR escalations, negotiating international data transfers, and building scalable privacy governance.
Location: Vienna, Austria. Hybrid working model combining onsite collaboration and remote work, with up to 25 additional days per year working from a city or country of choice.

What you will do
- Design, implement, and continuously improve the Group’s enterprise-level data protection management system.
- Act as Group Data Protection Officer and primary liaison with supervisory authorities across Europe, the UK, and the UAE.
- Advise the C-suite, engineering, and product teams on privacy matters involving blockchain technology, AI, and innovative financial products.
- Own the data protection control framework, including monitoring, testing, remediation, and reporting to senior management.
- Lead complex data subject access request escalations, personal data breach response, data processing agreements, and international data transfers.
- Monitor regulatory developments and deliver company-wide privacy training and awareness initiatives.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of data protection experience, including experience as an appointed Data Protection Officer.
- Experience with international law firms, regulatory authorities, and/or in-house legal or privacy departments.
- Strong understanding of digital assets, regulated financial services, and data protection compliance frameworks.
- Fully fluent English and C1 or higher German required.
- Ability to provide commercially viable legal advice while managing competing priorities.
