Senior Software Engineer (TypeScript/React)

Location: Welcome Building, Bristol, UK; flexible hybrid working options are available.

What you will do

• Build and maintain AWS cloud-native applications and digital client journeys using TypeScript, React, Node, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Write secure, tested, performant code and create automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Design and implement microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven solutions, and integrations with third-party vendors.
• Support existing applications, observability, CI/CD processes, documentation, solution diagrams, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, data engineers, and vendor engineering contacts.
• Coach junior engineers and contribute to communities of practice and technical standards.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience with TypeScript, React, Node, AWS, and IaC tools such as Terraform.
• Strong full-stack and DevOps experience, including CI/CD and Trunk Based Development.
• Experience with automated testing tools and practices, such as Jest, Cypress, Backstop, or Playwright.
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven architecture, databases, observability, and data platform technologies.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards, website performance, security, and other non-functional requirements.
• Clear communication, analytical problem-solving, collaborative code review, technical documentation, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Professional experience with React Native.
• Experience with PHP or Java.
