Educational Consultant (ELA or Reading) (EdTech)

Location: Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; candidates must live in or near the area or be open to relocating to Cedar Rapids. This is not a remote position and requires travel of up to 80% across districts in the Midwest, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Salary: $30–$65.63 per hour, depending on the assigned work.

What you will do

• Deliver on-site professional development, product training, and professional learning courses for teachers, coaches, and school administrators.
• Support implementation of Ready and i-Ready to improve classroom learning and equity.
• Provide tailored instructional support, including lesson planning, pacing guidance, and data analysis.
• Help school leaders identify implementation successes and challenges.
• Participate in internal professional improvement through observation, feedback, and coaching.
• Track training notes and complete assignments accurately and on time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience teaching ELA or Reading, coaching teachers, and delivering related professional development.
• Strong knowledge of Common Core State Standards for ELA or Reading in Grades K–8, including content and practice standards.
• Fluency with digital tools and online assessments, with confidence applying data alongside educators and leaders.
• Understanding of adult learning principles and their application to professional development.
• Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Valid driver’s license, own transportation, and ability to travel extensively, including overnight and out-of-state travel, are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in ELA or Reading.
• Bilingual and biliterate English/Spanish skills.
• Knowledge of Zoom, WebEx, or similar online meeting platforms.

Culture & Benefits

• Temporary, part-time per diem schedule based on customer demand, with peak periods from August through October and January through February.
• Work is generally scheduled during normal school hours.
• Compensation is provided for professional learning delivery, internal training, travel time, and eligible travel expenses.

• Accrued sick time for all per diem employees; medical coverage may become available after the waiting period for employees averaging at least 30 hours per week.
