Part-Time Reading Tutor (Special Education Experience Required) (Special Education)

Location: Sayville, New York, United States; on-site sessions with the family

What you will do

• Provide targeted 1:1 reading instruction to a 5th-grade child.
• Advance reading skills toward grade level while building confidence.
• Use patient, encouraging methods tailored to autism, ADHD, and anxiety.
• Integrate creative reading techniques and the child’s interests to keep sessions engaging.
• Optionally provide additional tutoring hours for a sibling on Saturdays.

Requirements

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring reading to children with special needs, or a background or certification in Special Education.
• Patient, kind, and adaptable approach to supporting children with neurodiverse learning profiles.
• Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
• Successful completion of a background check is required.
• Availability for 1–2 hours per week on Fridays after 4:30 PM or Saturdays between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Nice to have

• Degree or credentials in Special Education or Reading Education.
• Prior experience as a reading specialist or tutor.
